FASIG-TIPTON SIGNS ON AS TAKE2 SUPPORTER;
The DePaula Family & Saratoga North Creek Scenic Railway Donate “Experience” to Benefit TAKE2
The team at Fasig-Tipton is hard at work getting ready for their premier Saratoga Sale, which celebrates its 96th edition Aug. 8-9. But all of the focus is not on the superstars of tomorrow that will parade through the sales ring at the Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion next week. Fasig-Tipton also has underlined its advocacy for Thoroughbred aftercare with a generous donation to the TAKE2 Second Career Thoroughbred Program Inc.
“Fasig-Tipton is not only one of the leading sales companies in the world, but also is one of the most dedicated and philanthropic members of the Thoroughbred community,” NYTHA President Rick Violette Jr. said. “They have a history of commitment to our industry’s charitable causes, and we are grateful that TAKE2 has been added to the long list of organizations they support.”
TAKE2, launched in 2012, is sponsored by co-founders New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (NYTHA) and New York Thoroughbred Breeders Inc. (NYTB). The program offers prize money and awards for Thoroughbred-only Hunter and Jumper classes at more than 300 horse shows nationwide, highlighting the success of Thoroughbreds as show horses and creating more opportunities for retiring racehorses in need of second careers.
Its partner program, TAKE THE LEAD, works with owners and trainers to find placements for the horses retiring from the New York Racing Association tracks at Aqueduct, Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course. Now a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, TAKE2 is co-funded by members of the Thoroughbred industry around the country. In addition to Fasig-Tipton, the growing list of supporters includes New York Breeding and Development Fund; Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Associations in Illinois (through Galloping Out), Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania (through Turning for Home); Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company; and Florida Thoroughbred Farm Managers. TAKE2 is a 2016 Thoroughbred Charities of America Grantee.
“TAKE2 does an outstanding job of providing new careers for retiring racehorses in the horse show community,” Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning said. “We are pleased to support their efforts and will continue to work with them to provide additional opportunities for our Thoroughbred friends.”
In addition, Fasig-Tipton will host the drawing for a raffle to benefit TAKE2 and TAKE THE LEAD. The prize for the raffle, La Dolce Maserati Experience for Four, was donated by the DePaula Family and Maserati of Albany, and the Saratoga North Creek Scenic Railway. On Oct. 2, 2016, the winner and three guests will enjoy an experience that begins in Saratoga Springs at the height of the autumn season, stepping aboard an elegant Art Deco vintage rail car with a spectacular glass viewing roof. After enjoying a splendid breakfast aboard the Saratoga North Creek Railway, the four will disembark at North Creek, climb into the awaiting Maseratis and drive through the Adirondacks during peak leaf-peeping season to the Sagamore Resort in beautiful Lake George. At the Sagamore, they will be treated to a Sunday Supper and, after all the excitement of the day, will board a luxurious Premiere Transportation Limousine back to Saratoga Springs, with a special Maserati Gift Package.

Raffle tickets will sell for $20 each, or three for $50. Tickets will go on sale at the Fasig-Tipton cocktail party at the Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion on the evening of Aug. 6. The drawing will be held Sunday, Aug. 14, before the second session of the Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Yearlings Sale in Saratoga Springs. You do not have to be present at the drawing to win.
