Miami equestrian home owners looking for horseback riding lessons, horse boarding, and equestrian summer camp should visit the Miami Equestrian Center. Founded in 1989 by Jose “Pepe” Marine, the center has built a legacy of training equestrians in the elegance and artistry of show riding, as well as simply riding for the pure joy of it. Michele Zarmati is the manager and head trainer. She has over 20 years of experience riding competitively and is the coach for the show team. Those who need horse boarding or training should get in touch with the center. Horses are boarded in 12 x 12 matted stalls and turned out in one of six grassy fields.
Horse Training is Available to Those from South Florida Horse Properties
Kids from South Florida horse properties can have a great time this summer at Miami Equestrian’s summer day camp. Camp beings on June 10th and runs through August 16th. This is a great way for kids to meet others who share their love of horses. It’s also a good way to gently introduce kids to riding and caring for horses. Camp runs Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Before and after care is available but is not included in the cost of camp.
You won’t have to bring any equipment from your Miami equestrian home, as the center will provide everything. Campers should wear close-toed shoes and jeans or leggings for daily horseback riding, as well as barn chores. Bring a hat, a change of clothes, sunscreen, and a bottle of water or sports drink to stay hydrated. Pack a hearty lunch with afternoon snacks everyday except Friday for Pizza Friday. In addition to riding, chores, and horse education, campers will enjoy arts and crafts, movies, and friends. Camp is open to kids ages seven to 13. No previous riding experience is necessary. Sibling discounts are available as well.
